Sue was stabbed nineteen times by her boyfriend, Peter Gamble Whyte, 51. Police found Whyte with a large wound in his stomach.

A jury convicted him of second-degree intentional homicide (amended from first-degree intentional). He was sentenced to forty years in prison and twenty years of extended supervision.
