Brian Cooper, 35, strangled Alisha with whom he had a dating relationship. Cooper and Alisha traveled to Door County from Plainfield, Illinois for a wedding. After the wedding had ended and they went back to their hotel room, Alisha told Cooper she did not want to see him romantically anymore. Alisha then fell asleep.

Cooper woke up between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., got on top of Alisah and strangled her to death. He made several suicide attempts before calling police.

Cooper was tried for the homicide in June 2012. A verdict was not returned, reportedly because one juror would not participate in the deliberations. Prosecutors plan to retry Cooper.

Alisha was pregnant at the time of her murder.
