The murder of Autumn has left two children behind to continue their lives without their Mother in it

The husband of a woman found dead in her Navasota home Monday has been charged with first-degree murder.

A warrant was issued Tuesday for Kelly Armstrong's arrest, accusing him of fatally shooting his wife Autumn Armstrong.

Authorities responded to the 300 block of Judson Street in Navasota at about 3:15 a.m. on Monday after receiving a 911 call from Kelly Armstrong reporting that his wife had been shot.

Autumn Armstrong, a 40-year-old mother of two and Bryan High School graduate, was found dead in her bed with the suspected weapon lying nearby, according to a statement from Grimes County District Attorney Tuck McLain.

It did not appear that Kelly Armstrong had provided any medical help before first responders arrived, McLain said.

Preliminary autopsy results from the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office listed Autumn Armstrong's cause of death as exsanguination, or bleeding to death, from a gunshot wound to the upper right thigh.

It was unknown how long the couple had been married, but McLain said they had been going through a divorce. They had a teenage son, who was home at the time of the shooting, and a 20-year-old daughter.
