Kevin Lombard, 23, strangled his girlfriend, Amelia, to death at a motel where the couple was staying. That night, Lombard told Schmitz that he had not been faithful to her.

According to Lombard, Schmitz became upset and he put her in a “headlock.”

Court records show that Lombard had a history of domestic violence.

In the killing of Schmitz, he was convicted of first-degree reckless homicide and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
