A neighbor called police when she noticed that no activity had been seen at the Weber home for days. Police found Bonita dead from a single gunshot wound.

Sheriff Pat Medure stated that Douglas Weber, 59, had shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself.

On the Tuesday before the murder Bonita Weber had asked to have an order for protection against Douglas dismissed.
