Herlinda was shot in the head by her husband, Carlos Coria Aguirre, 27. Aguirre told police he was loading his pistol when it went off and shot her in the head.

Investigators determined that he had been drinking. Romero was taken to the hospital where she died after giving birth to a child who was three months premature.

The infant also died.
