Carolyn was shot 11 times when she stepped outside her home where she cared for two people with mental disabilities. She had filed for divorce days earlier.

Her husband, Brad Voorhees, had purchased the .22 caliber rifle that was used in the shooting earlier in the day.

He was charged with first-degree murder after confessing to authorities.
