Irene's murder has left her 3 adult Children without their Mother in their lives

Irene died after being shot twice in the head by her husband, Anton Baumann, 86. The shooting occurred on the back porch of their home. Anton told police that Irene asked for help after the first shot, he told her, “I’ll get you help” and then shot her a second time.

Newspapers reported that Anton told the police he was angry because his wife would not sit with him on the deck. The couple had been married for 63 years.

The couple’s oldest daughter reported that she and other family members were beaten by her father. The children renounced their father at his sentencing, grieving the years of pain their mother suffered.

Anton Baumann was charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide and was sentenced to life in prison. He died in prison in May 2003.
