Denise was shot multiple times by her husband, Larry Caraway.

Caraway had numerous drinks on the day of the shooting; he reported to law enforcement that Denise had shot herself, but ultimately plead guilty to the crime.

Law enforcement reported a history of domestic violence between the Caraways.

Larry pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 65 years in prison.
