Angelita's murder has left her young child to grow up without their Mother in their life

Gilbert police received a call from a relative of Angelita's boyfriend, Dartanion Terrial Stroud. The caller said that Stroud had called and said that he killed his girlfriend. The police department worked with the Mesa police to check the couple's last known address.

Two hours after the initial call, Stroud arrived in an emergency room with Angelita’s body, seeking treatment. Her injuries were consistent with strangulation. There was a previous history of domestic violence, including two police responses.

Angelita had petitioned for an Order of Protection against Stroud in August, in which she detailed incidents beyond the police reports.

Stroud had petitioned for joint custody of their nine month old child; his petition was denied while her Order of protection stood.
