Kezia was shot to death in her apartment, and her boyfriend, Pvt. Joseph Andrew Mandel, was charged with the killing.

He maintained a barracks on base, but often stayed with his girlfriend in her Yuma apartment.

The case is being handled by local law enforcement and prosecution, as it was not on military grounds.
