Randolph W. Melsness, 51, has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide and operating a firearm while intoxicated in connection with the beating death of his girlfriend, Renee. A jury trial is scheduled for September 6, 2011.

Law enforcement officers responded to a call from his brother, who reported that Randolph Melsness was firing a gun in the basement of the home and was threatening him and their mother.

An arrest was made and in searching the property for weapons, officers found Renee’s body on the floor of the motor home where the couple lived.
