Amy met Trace Maxwell while she was working in the Southdale Mall. According to her family during the course of this relationship Trace was abusive.

Early in the morning of April 29, 2010, Trace came to Amy’s new apartment in North Minneapolis, shot and killed her and also shot and wounded her roommate.

Police believe Trace Maxwell is also connected to the killings of two other men at two other locations.

Amidst a police chase, Trace Maxwell killed himself with a gunshot wound.
