Myrick’s mother, Susan Sleeper, issued a statement that read, in part, “Please take this as an example that this can happen to anyone. If you are in a situation that is in any way abusive, no matter how small it may seem at first, please ask for help. You cannot fix this yourself, and no matter how many times your abuser says that he has changed, you cannot trust that.’’

Allison was found stabbed to death inside a home in Shirley. Her former boyfriend, Robert Gulla, 19, was charged with first-degree murder, violation of a restraining order and three counts of assault and battery.

Gulla was treated for self-inflicted gunshot and stab wounds.
