Merissa Kelley, 31

IN, Marion Co.

December 2, 2010

Merissa's murder has left her young Children (Joshua 7 & Robert 6) to grow up without their Mother in their lives

Merissa was strangled to death by her ex-husband Howard Sanders. Sanders reportedly strangled Merissa because she had formed a new relationship and planned to move out of state with their two children.

Sanders was on house arrest for identify theft at the time of the homicide and cut his house arrest monitor off at Merissa's home. He had stayed overnight at her house and they got into a fight in the morning, which ended up in her death.

Sanders had a suicide note and flight information in his possession when he was arrested, prosecutors said, indicating that he wasn't sure whether to kill himself or run away.

Sanders plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter and burglary and received a concurrent sentence of 20 years in prison.
