With the murders of Benita and Tierra, four young children are now going to grow up without their Mother’s in their lives
Benita and her cousin Tierra were found lying outside the back door at 209 Melvin Court at about 9 p.m., Fayetteville Police Sgt. Gary Womble said.
They arrested Benita’s boyfriend, Jermaine Lamar Johnson, 24, and charged him with two counts of first-degree murder.
Three children – ages 8, 4 and 2 – whom neighbors say belonged to Underwood were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting. They were not injured.
Benita had a baby with Johnson, neighbors also said. The neighbors stated that after the shooting he left with his baby and went to another apartment, where he asked neighbors to call 911.
