Deazjnae was hospitalized in grave condition Wednesday as her 20-year-old husband, Roshawn Lamar Broadnax, sat in jail on suspicion of attempted murder and spousal abuse following an incident in Spring Valley, authorities said.
Medics found Broadnax tending to his injured wife, who was taken to an area hospital but is not expected to survive, the homicide lieutenant said in a statement. Paramedics took Banks to Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego where she was admitted in critical condition. Physicians removed her from life-support equipment about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
Sheriff's officials have withheld the cause of Banks's death and details on what might have led to the alleged slaying. The nature of her injuries was not disclosed.
Broadnax was arrested and booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of one count each of attempted murder and spousal abuse, Nesbit said.
