Police Officer Shawn Schneider was shot in the head while responding to a domestic assault call.

On December 19th , Officer Schneider, a 9-year veteran of Lake City Policy Department, responded to a report of domestic violence. Alan Sylte, Jr. shot the officer as he helped Alan’s 17-year-old former girlfriend escape the house. The ex-girlfriend was not injured.

Alan died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Officer Schneider died on December 30th from the gunshot wound.
