Shirley's murder has left behind her 3 young children to grow up without her in their lives

Shirley was stabbed to death by her boyfriend, Scott Anthony Stumbris, 40. Her father, Arsenio, was murdered by him through asphyxiation.

Their bodies were discovered after his 7 year-old daughter was able to free herself from the torn sheets and clothing her father had bound and gagged her with. She ran to a neighbor for help.

The car Scott had taken from Arsenio Garcia was found at a nearby motel. Scott was barricaded in the motel with a woman he threatened to hurt.

A police sniper shot him on February 11, 2004.
