Laura was shot and killed by her husband, Todd Arthur Hulke.
After her employer called the police for a welfare check, the authorities found Laura dead from one gunshot wound to her head. Lying beside her in the couple's bed was her husband, Todd, who had also died of a single gunshot wound.
Friends report that the couple had marital problems. There are no police records of domestic abuse.
The authorities have ruled that Todd killed his wife and then shot himself.
