Laurie and her daughter Amanda were shot and murdered by Laurie's estranged boyfriend, James M. Longnaker, III, 50; he then shot himself with a 30/30 rifle in the head while evading arrest.

Longnaker had been arrested for domestic violence twice in the past 6 weeks.

Laurie and Amanda were out of town last week. When they got home a “fight ensued and ended in tragedy.” Longnaker fled from the scene.

SWAT officers found Longnaker northeast of the residence and tried to negotiate with him. He was armed with a 30-30 rifle. He shot himself in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
