A Female Victim and mother of three was strangled with a cord and beaten to death by her daughter's 18-year-old ex-boyfriend.
The perpetrator lit two candles, placed them under beds and dismantled the smoke detectors. A neighbor called 911 when she observed smoke coming from the residence. Firefighters found the victim in the tub.
A week before the murder, the victim found the perpetrator and two of his friends in her apartment when she came home. He warned her not to press charges.
The day of the murder, police had questioned the perpetrator in connection with the burglary at the victim’s apartment.
