Silva was found dead in the apartment she shared with her husband, Paulo Viera. The autopsy determined that Viera was killed by blunt force trauma to the head.
An emigrant from Brazil, Viera worked as a house cleaner. When Viera did not show up for work after two weeks, they contacted the Boston Police to do a well-being check. Neighbors reported that no lights had been on in the apartment for a couple of weeks.
According to media reports, Viera’s husband flew back to Brazil two weeks prior to her being found, raising suspicions about his role in her death.
