Isaiah Hurts, 55, beat his wife Beverly to death at their apartment.
Beverly had contacted a local family violence shelter and left Hurts. Beverly went to their apartment complex to meet with a pastor for marriage counseling.
Hurts confessed the murder to the pastor.
